About Arcadia Prep's MCAT Course

The Arcadia Prep Course

The Arcadia Prep's MCAT Course takes the review and practice materials from Nova Press's classic MCAT Trilogy books in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and presents them in interactive, mobile format. Each book is packaged as an iPad / iPhone module, which makes it easier for prospective medical students to prepare for the MCAT wherever and whenever they have time. The Arcadia Prep app comes with:
  • Easy-to-navigate chapters and pages
  • Multiple choice practice sets
  • Scratch pad with Pen Tools
  • Bookmark so you can come back to challenging problems
  • Timer to help you pace yourself
  • Scoring matrix to see how you do
  • Discussion Board in case you want to discuss with others

Using the App

  • The actual MCAT is organized a little differently. The Life Science test includes Biology and Organic Chemistry, and the Physical Science test includes Physics and General Chemistry. This app includes Chemistry (General and Organic) and Biology modules. The Physics module will be released in Fall 2012.
  • The app is freely downloadable and includes a few free chapters with review text and practice questions.
  • Students typically spend 2-3 months to go through the materials in the app. Please pace yourself and commit several hours per week going through the text and working out the problems.

About Nova Press's MCAT Trilogy

The MCAT prep material by Nova Press provides the most comprehensive review of Physics, Biology, and Chemistry available. Furthermore, it provides numerous examples and MCAT-style questions with thorough explanations. It greatly prepares test takers for the challenges they face on the real exam. If you want more than just practice questions, this is the app for you. The chapters aren't too long and there are thorough examples throughout the text to demonstrate the difficult concepts.

Typical Reviews for the Printed Book

"Before I used this book to study for the MCAT, my physical sciences section was a 9; but after preparing myself with this book, my score jumped to a 12 on the MCAT."

"I think Kaplan might do a really good job of pointing out the 'what you need to know for the MCAT' and this book does a really good job of teaching you "what you need to know to really understand [physics, biology, chemistry]"
