Hi Deisy, have you tried the Show Correct Answers button? Tap Finish, then Show Correct Answers. There is an explanation for every question. If you still don't get it, then ask about a specific step.

Since The square is in a unit circle isn't the radius 1 not 1/2?

Deisy, a unit square is circumscribed about a circle. If the circumference of the circle is qπ, what is the value of q?

Circumference of a circle = 2πr, where r is the radius. The circle is exactly inside a square. The square is a unit square, which means the sides have length = 1. That means the radius of the circle is 1/2.

So circumference = 2πr= 2*π*1/2 = π

But we are told that circumference = qπ, so q = 1.

Luke, the circle is in a unit square, not the other way around; which means that the diameter is 1, not the radius.

How did we know that the diameter of thé circle is 1?

Ihsane, we know this because the
Circle is right inside a unit square. A unit square has sides equal to 1. Therefore the diameter = 1.

C = q x pie
Then q = 2r because C = 2 x pie x r
r = d / 2 = 1 / 2
q = 2 x 0.5 = 1
