Why option D is wrong? The para 2 sentence1 indicates there are identical features.

Well, it is a trap. We should not choose which is simple and common but rather which can be universal. It is an inference question.

So if the question is broad does that mean the answer mirrors the question? It seems there might be a correlation.

There's nothing in the paragraph indicating that the author defines the technical phenomenon as "a way of thinking". Rather, it seems to me the author is talking about "a way of doing" things, i.e. the application of common methods and tools to different activities. Therefore, answer c should also be discarded, leaving d as the only valid choice.

Sorry, I meant leaving answer E as the only valid choice.

I could not find the paragraph where have the details on the way of thinking about modern life(?). (I forgot the content of correct answer ...). Well... So I cannot understand it.

The way of thinking is too broad to specify the technological phenomenon

There is no such mention of thinking of modern society. And more importantly if it’s the right answer how will we derive an analogy between the description in the paragraph and modern thinking.
