If 2 is the greatest number that will divide evenly into both x and y, what is the greatest number that will divide evenly into both 5x and 5y?

I'm baffled, why you put x=2z?
As question said 2 will evenly divided the number into 5x&5y,
then 2=1x:1y
>5*1:5*1
>5+5=10.
I got the answer right but don't understand how you did that.
